Moral Decline = Economic Decline?

Will Catholic Hospitals close this Year Leaving a huge Medical Void?

When I was a kid I was taught that the first settlers of America were Pilgrims and Puritans and that they came over here came over on the Mayflower in 1620 so that they could practice their religion without the threat of jail.

On January 20th those who don’t follow the government belief system will be jailed.

FOCA (S 1173, H.R. 1964) says, paraphrased, if I am a Catholic, a Christian, a Muslim and I believe, for instance, that abortion is murder of the innocent, I am by law, required to perform that abortion. My religious beliefs are irrelevant. Just like the Puritans and Pilgrims I will be jailed. Abortions are expected to go up in one year 100,000. The choices are grim for those who want to practice their faith. In its Novermber 2 issue LIFENEWS.COM wrote, “John Vennari, the editor of the Catholic Family News publication, points out that the measure could easily put Catholics hospitals out of business that want to continue opting out of doing abortions rather than violate their religious beliefs”

The USCB are coming out swinging. CNSNEWS. Bishop Paul Loverde said if his Diocese had a hospital he said he would say, ‘Yeah, I’m not going to close the hospital, you’re going to arrest me, go right ahead. You’ll have to drag me out, go right ahead. I’m not closing this hospital, we will not perform abortions, and you can go take a flying leap. ”

Thomas Moore before his death said the king (the government) cannot have supreme authority over a person. A person’s first obligation is towards God followed by allegiance to his country.

Catholic Bishops won’t have many choices if the government decides it has supreme moral authority over religious hospitals. With 30% of all hospitals being Catholic there could be a real problem. Some have said the hospital should be leveled rather than risk the hospital being used for abortions.

It's simple . . . Pray Pray and pray

My friend Rob Roeder was one of the latest victims of lay offs in the area. Rob spoke of how he is offering it up. I need to heed his words. If you know of someone who needs a good leader, a hard worker who can tackle big jobs call Rob Roeder at 574-533-3958.

The prayer The Our Father is so important after the election. The words that come to my mind are, "lead us not into temptation". We got what we voted in. Now that we got who we asked for we ask God to lead our country to bless Obama and not to lead us into temptation. Just because someone is President we must remember we are accountable first to God. Obama will probably pass laws for greater homosexual rights and decrease religious rights. He'll probably have more abortions then any time in our history. On the other hand he'll try to reduce the health care costs.

Don't be discrouraged about the election. Margy Kloska shared the below insightful words.

Quote from Henry Hyde, the late pro-life champion of the US Congress:

"When the time comes as it surely will, when we face that awesome moment, the final judgment, I've often thought, as Fulton Sheen wrote, that it is a terrible moment of loneliness. You have no advocates, you are there alone standing before God and a terror will rip through your soul like nothing you can imagine. But I really think that those in the pro-life movement will not be alone. I think there will be a chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world but are heard beautifully and clearly in the next world
and they will plead for everyone who has been in this movement. They will say to God, "Spare him because he loved us," and God will look at you and say not, "Did you succeed?" but "Did you try?"

Young innocent babies lives are at stake. We must think of them and pray for their moms and dads that they make the decision to bring the helpless innocent baby into their lives. Pray for them like you have never prayed before.

An artist from Canada tells us how it is

The news for the economy is going to get worse before it gets better. Why? I believe as a country we’re really messing up our moral conscious. The guest this week on Life On The Rock, who is an artist, from Canada said in a gentle yet firm voice, “Your country has the blood of abortion running through its streets. You have failed to prioritize issues” he said. “The economy is more important then abortion.” OOO that is right between the eyes.

The market has now lost 50% compared to a year ago.

What should you do? Vote for life and vote with your money by supporting the below businesses that support life.

Before you do that though a little side note. I was with Paul Cataldo yesterday. Two restaurants within a half mile closed their doors. A banker shared that a third well known restaurant will be foreclosed on in December. The only way to help our brothers is to support them. We must support them with actions the best that we can.

Review the business list below and see what services you need and give them a hand.

Novena for the election

As we head toward the election Fr Corapi suggests a Novena:

"I strongly urge every one of you to make a Novena and pray the Rosary to Our Lady of Victory between October 27th and Election Day, November 4th. Pray that God’s will be done and the most innocent and utterly vulnerable of our brothers and sisters will be protected from this barbaric and grossly sinful blight on society that is abortion. No woman, and no man, has the right to choose to murder an innocent human being."

Put this on your calender.

Trust

Trusting
Last week the stock market hit an all time low. Some were predicting bread lines. Today stocks hit new high. What's next? Only God knows. Our job is to trust Him. St. Faustina has an image of Jesus with rays of light. Under the image of Jesus are the words, "Jesus I trust thee".

We all need to trust Him in these tough times. In addition we need to lean on each other. We need to help each other. Each one of us has different gifts. We have to use those gifts to help each other.

The purpose of this blog is help us help each other in these uncertain times.

Focus on helping your brother. Promote businesses that promote life that help the church.

If your Knights, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Rosary Society etc. are doing something make an effort to help them.

In this blog I've named a handful of businesses. Can you name some Catholic or strong Christian businesses that we need to support?
